Hello everyone! I have some exciting news! Although it may not show it yet on my fundraising page, I am about half way to my fundraising goal! AND my race is now a little under 3 months away! I am starting to get super nervous. Some more good news is that my knee is finally healed and I have gotten back into my running. It has left me a little bit behind schedule but thankfully I maintained my cardio using the bike and elliptical machine while I couldn’t run! This weekend we are supposed to run 5 miles but I will most likely aim for 4. More and more people are starting to express such interest in helping me to reach my goals, especially fundraising ones and it is really making me start to feel like this is real.

I mean yeah, I have been running and yeah I have been asking people to donate me money but to hear people tell me that not only have they been noticing a difference in my physical appearance (aka I guess my body is slowly getting toned and in shape, although the scale doesn’t say I have lost too much) but that I have become an inspiration to them is really something! It really makes me feel great about what I am doing! It actually makes me feel guilty about how much more serious I can be about this whole thing.

This past weekend I volunteered at an aid station at mile marker 55 for the Burning River 100 mile race. MAN, WAS THAT SOMETHING!!!! It was absolutely incredible to see runners coming through that have been already running for 9-13 hours by that time! They had the best attitudes and were truly inspiring! I have never even been to a running even so it was exciting to witness one. I think that I have decided that it is necessary for me to sign up for some other events before mine, even if it is just a 5k just to deal with race day jitters. (They have already sky rocketed!)

Point of today’s blog….I WILL SUCCEED. I know I have been saying this the whole time but I really think that I am going to pull through. Both financially and physically! And really I have to thank everyone who is supporting me, helping me to reach my goals, and who just has something positive to say to me about it all!

If you would like to join the many who have supported me in my endeavor I would be so grateful!

Today shall be a great day! :)

Good Morning! I am convinced today will be a good day no matter what happens! I went shopping yesterday for good eats! I figured I have been working so hard training and fundraising it is time to start fueling my body properly! AND I actually woke up for workout this morning! YEAH ME! For anyone that doesn’t know me…MORNINGS ARE NOT MY FRIEND! haha

My knee is almost back to 100% and I cannot wait to increase my miles again! I am hoping to be back to running as usual by this weekend..So wish me luck!

Andddd…I emailed my coworkers last night after work requesting their support and donations and I already had one person donate and another say that they will! It makes me so happy and even though I am still far from my goal, I know that I can do it!

The garage sale I have in the works is coming along nicely! I have already had some donations made for it! I accidentally planned it the same weekend I was planning on going to Put in Bay so I am pretty bummed about that…BUT this is more important! I feel like October is so far away but the way the past few months have been going by it will be here before I know it…so time to get to getting!

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining!

Hello Friends!

Well the donations are finally starting to roll in! I think people are actually starting to believe in me! (Well at least that is how it is making me feel!) It feels so good and makes me so happy to have support in this! In the past it has been that I have been taking strides in my running and have been feeling defeated in my fundraising but now the tables are turned…which I am okay with. I have been having some knee problems so I have been taking it slow with my runs and have not been getting the mileage I want, but I am still staying active and moving towards my goal!

I had a dream last night that I asked my fit friends on facebook to give me a shout out type of thing to their fans on their page and it resulted in a huge success! So I figured maybe it was a sign (again I am all about signs) that maybe I should give it a shot! What is the worse that will happen? They think I am creepy because I had a dream about them? They don’t want to help me? Hopefully they will though!

Well try to stay cool out there today!

And as usual…

I saw this today on Instagram and it made me realize that I have been slacking! I have not been blogging, I have been skipping runs, and my fundraising motivation could be better! This is just what I needed to read today!

EVERYONE has them.

They are EVERYWHERE you look and go!

WILLPOWER & FOCUS is what keeps you from straying.

How strong is yours????

Do you give in?!

Do you throw away what you are WORKING for to have a moment of bliss and feel good…Even though you know it’s not what you want in the long run?!

Willpower works just like a muscle – the more you GROW it…the more you DEVELOP it…the STRONGER it becomes! STAY FOCUSED!!!

Keep track – ask yourself:

You are wayyyyyyy stronger than you think you are!!!!

Time to get it together again!

And of course, if you want to join me in my cause…I would be so honored!

Just keep swimming, swimming…Errr…Just keep running, running

Happy Friday everyone!

So I know that I have gone MIA on here recently but to be quite honest I had some bad runs and hadn’t raised any more money beyond the $10 my mom donated and I became super discouraged. I still have been running but they just haven’t been very good. Even my buddy run on Wednesday went awfully. I was the slowest one, which isn’t even the issue but more or so when someone drops back to run with me it makes me feel bad because I know that they could be going a lot faster. Also I don’t know why but the guy leading the buddy run I attend either didn’t seem to like me or looked at me like I was a joke. It could all have just been in my head but I did not leave my run feeling great about myself. The good news though is that I am still doing well with keeping at my schedule and even have done 3 miles during the week and not only as my long run. It is a slow 3 miles but hey, I just gotta keep running!

Besides the fact that I can see my mileage keep increasing, I had a proud moment the other day when I took my cousin to the gym with me. I joined Planet Fitness in February and my first day I tried starting the couch to 5k app. I could barely keep running for 2 mins straight on the treadmill then. Now, not only can I run more than two minutes, but I can run 3 miles consistently and I run multiple times a week!  I really don’t like running on the treadmill but I like going to the gym and I like taking my cousin with me to help her achieve her goals so I will be okay with it once a week!

I do have some awesomely GREAT news! I was at my hair salon that I have been going to for over 10 years now and I was telling my hair lady and one of her customers about my cause and my endeavors. I have this fascination with runners now. Its kinda creepy. I look at people and wonder to myself if they are runners or what they look like running. So this conversation all got started when I asked her customer if she was a runner. haha Well after the woman left my hair dresser told me that she would allow me to put up a sign and a pretty collection box or vase to raise some money AND on top of it she said that she will donate $1 for every client she has from now until October! I was so happy and grateful I nearly started crying in her salon! After all the discouragement I have had recently, it was just what I needed to get me refocused! If you live in the Parma, Oh area check out Hair studio 42 on Pearl Rd!

Also some more fundraising in the developing…I have been talking to the pastor (preacher? I guess I am not really sure of his title) of my mom’s church which I have been attending recently and I am trying to get a church-wide garage sale in effect! I figured that people could bring in stuff they had lying around the house and donate it to the sale along with going around to different garage sales as they close on their last day and asking for the rest of their stuff as donations would be a great way to get a massive sale to go down. And then part of the portions raised could go to the church and the other part to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! This was also great news for me!

I am so glad to have my cheerful attitude back regarding this all and am so grateful and blessed to see that people are going to support me through this!

Tonight I am going to the Indian’s game to celebrate a friend’s birthday! Dollar dog night and Disney themed fireworks! How can you go wrong!?!? Then I have my team run bright and early tomorrow morning and after am heading to Michigan to go camping with the fam! I am so looking forward to the weekend! Just need to get though the rest of work!

Here is another motivational quote for you today! (I know I could use all the motivation I can get this week!)

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion.'” – Muhammad Ali

As always I would be honored if you could support me in my endeavors! Even donating just $1 would be one dollar closer to finding the cure to caner! Cancer sucks…LETS BEAT IT!

Monday “not so fun” Funday

Happy Monday! Well for me today has just gone on and on! At least it was my last early morning watching my coworkers kids!

So remember that team run that I was oh so excited for?? Well thanks to my kitten (we are currently fighting) my alarm did not go off Saturday morning because she thought mommy would really love it if she pulled my charger out of the wall so my already dying cell phone would die and shut off! HOW RUDE! I also then didn’t wake up until almost noon in which I sat up thinking “It is way too bright out to be before 8 am”….

So I am sad to report that I still did not get to experience a team run yet, nor did I get to go to the shoe fitting…but I am doing a buddy run with one of the mentors on Wednesday where I hope they can give me some pointers on how to keep those cramps away! Due to my alarm issues and an already jam-packed busy weekend, I didn’t get to do any running except for when I played softball (which does’t really count but it was better than sitting at home on the couch!) and what I attempted to do real quick on Saturday before the Indians game. The schedule changes a little this month… and I have my soccer game tonight which always includes a lot of running and its my rest day so I am kind of making up for it! I am also excited that instead of running for a set amount of minutes it has mostly changed over to an amount of miles. There has always been something I cannot wrap my brain around when it comes to exercising and minutes. No matter how hard you try and you cannot make those minutes go by any faster…but with a distance the faster you go the faster you finish!

Well today’s blog kind of sucks…but I guess it is like running…you have your good days and your bad days!

Also I have still only raised $10 but I plan on using Facebook as a tool this week and have been in contact with some businesses about putting up my donation blood drops! Hopefully the cash will start rolling in real soon!

Blood Cancer Awareness Fact of the Day:

“Hodgkin Lymphoma patient survival rates have more than doubled to 86% since the 1960s!”

You can help!

If you would like to donate to my cause I would be honored! http://pages.teamintraining.org/noh/nikesf13/tmasonhslp

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
